The Federated Research Infrastructure

AFRICAI-RI will implement the first federated research infrastructure for medical imaging across Africa. Within the platform, imaging and clinical data will remain stored locally at each participating clinical site, where they will be harmonized and anonymized to enable large-scale analysis. 

These regional nodes will be set up in all participating African centres. Additionally, the Medical Research Council Unit in The Gambia will serve as a central node to help connect all research centres who cannot become data nodes themselves due to lack of local hardware.
